What is an EDI 832 Price Catalog?
- It is an electronic file sent in an industry accepted format that conveys basic item catalog information from a supplier (Metropolitan) to a customer(dealer).
- EDI is an Electronic Data Interchange
- This means a file that is formatted for systems to read, not people
- There are many standard EDI documents, 832 is the standardized name for a catalog
- EDI is an Electronic Data Interchange
What information is in the EDI 832 Price Catalog?
- The file contains unique item information for each SKU, such as:
- Item Name
- Item Number & UPC
- Length & Width
- Square Feet per box
- Related Items
- Price
How does this help the customer?
- Automation & Accuracy.
- Updates are sent weekly
- If a new item is added it will automatically be sent to the customer with the next weekly transmission
Can any customer receive our EDI 832 Price Catalog?
- Yes, as long as they have a system that can receive, interpret, and process the file.
- Not every customer does
- Customers who use industry standard systems such as RFMS, Rollmaster, & QFloors generally can accept and process our EDI 832 Catalog file.
- As always, it is best to ask if a customer can receive the file.
- Note that the file is not emailed, it is in a format that is not readily human readable
What is needed to get set up?
- Once confirming a customer can indeed receive and process the file all we need is:
- Metropolitan Customer Account Number
- Customer contact name and email
- From there we will get them set up and send the FTP credentials to the contact provided.
- This will allow them to log in to a dedicated customer specific folder that will house the EDI 832 Catalog files that the customer can retrieve and load into their system
